Chocolate Toothpaste Tart

A school pudding favourite

  • Prep: 6 hrs 40 mins
  • Yields: 6-8 servings

Ingredients

1 ready baked sweet pastry case

150g caster sugar

70g butter

20g cocoa

20g hot chocolate mix

230g milk powder

150ml warm water

Cream to decorate

Directions

1Cream the butter and sugar together well

2Sieve in the cocoa and hot chocolate powder

3Mix well

4Put the milk powder into a large bowl

5Add the warm water and mix well

6Mix the chocolate mix into the milk , stir until well combined

7Pour into the pastry case

8Chill in the fridge until set

9Decorate with cream

I’m in Kent & remember being really surprised that friends from other parts of the uk had no idea what gypsy tart was, lol!

Used to be a winner… When I was working in school dinners 20yrs ago… We had to make this as 90% of the desserts, it was so popular.
