Liver with Onions and Crispy Bacon

Liver and onions is great comfort food add crispy bacon to take it to another level

  • Yields: 4 servings


1lb liver sliced

8 rashers streaky bacon

1-2 onions thinly sliced

1tblspn plain flour

1 pint stock

Salt and pepper

Mixed herbs ( optional )

Dash of Worcestershire sauce

A little oil

Creamy mash to serve


1Heat a large pan on a med/high heat

2Add a little oil

3Add in the onions and fry until softened

4Toss the liver in seasoned flour

5Grill or fry fry the bacon until crispy

6Add a little more oil to the pan and fry the liver for a 4-5 minutes

7Gradually add the stock- stirring well

8Add in the herbs if using along with a dash of Worcestershire sauce

9Let it simmer for 5-10 minutes

10Serve on a bed of mash topped with the bacon
