Scottish Macaroons

Dry sweet but tasty old fashioned recipe

  • Prep: 30 mins
  • Yields: 12 large balls or 24 small balls


100g cold mashed potato

400g icing sugar

200g melted chocolate



1Mix your mash with the icing sugar 100g at a time - don't worry if it goes all gloopy at first it will stiffen up

2Roll into balls

3Put on a baking tray and put in the freezer for 15 minutes

4Melt the chocolate

5Toast the coconut

6Dip the frozen balls into the chocolate

7Then roll in the coconut

8Put on a baking tray lined with baking paper

9Put them in the fridge until the chocolate hardens
