Stir fried beef in oyster sauce

1 flash fry (minute steak) per person

A selection of veg cut to similar size (onions, carrots , peppers , mushrooms , mange tout etc)

3 minced cloves of garlic

2inch piece of ginger grated


2tblspn rice wine vinegar

3 tblspn soy sauce

1tspn Chinese 5 spice

2tspns sugar

3-4 tblspn oyster sauce



Sweet chilli sauce


1Slice the steak into thin strips across the grain

2Put it not a large bowl

3Sprinkle over the 5 spice and toss to cover all the steak

4Mix the other sauce ingredients together and pour over the steak

5Cover and leave for 15 minutes

6Heat the oil in a wok or large frying pan

7Remove the beef from the marinade and stir fry for 3-5 minutes until cooked - keep it moving

8When cooked take out of the pan with a slotted spoon and put in a bowl

9Add more oil if needed and add the garlic and ginger , add the vegetables and stir fry the for a few minutes

10Add the meat back to the pan , combine with the vegetables and cook for another couple of minutes

11Add the remaining marinade ans chilli sauce (to taste) if using and stir

12Once it’s bubbling serve

13Serve with rice or noodles
