Slow Cooker Mince

An economical filling dinner

 250 g Minced beef
 ½ Onion chopped
 ½ Leek chopped
 1 Carrots chopped or grated
 100 g Mushrooms chopped
 1 Garlic cloves crushed
 40 g Porridge oats
 1 Beef stock cubes
 100 ml Water
 ¼ tsp Mixed herbs
 ½ tbsp Oil
 ½ tbsp Cornflour

Fry the onion,leek,garlic and herbs gently for 5mns then tip into the slow cooker

Fry the beef mince in the frying pan for 5 mns till browned,adding the mushrooms and continue to fry for a few mns

Drain the mince and add the cornflour, fry for 2 mns then add to the slow cooker .Add in the carrots and oats then stir to combine everything

Crumble over the stock cubes or just add them ,pour over the water and mix

Put lid on and cook on low for 6hrs

This is a great base for loads of dishes
Tip- add tomato paste or tinned tomatoes and chilli powder for a midweek chilli
Tip- add any veg you need to use up
Tip- add dumplings or top with mash for a more filling dish.
Tip- add a few dashes of Worcestershire sauce for added flavour
