As a Scot I didn't realise that you don't really get this sort of steak pie in England. This is a traditional dish that we eat all through the year but definitely at New Year!

 2 tbsp flour
 2 tbsp vegetable oil
 500 g puff pastry
 8 sausages (optional)
 1 beaten egg
1

heat oil in a pan

2

mix the flour and oxo cubes together and then coat the beef in the mix

3

fry off the seasoned beef (and sausages if using) until browned

4

Add enough water to just cover the meat and bring to the boil

5

Simmer on the lowest heat for at least 1 hour

6

Heat the oven to GM 5 or 180c

7

Add the filling to a pie dish

8

Roll out the pastry and cover the pie

9
