Cottage pie

400g extra lean mince

200g porridge oats

1 1/2 pints beef gravy

2 small or 1 large onion diced

2 oxo cubes

2TBSP brown sauce

8 large potatoes

3 sweet potatoes

1TBSP butter

2TBSP Cream


1put mince in a large pan and sprinkle 2 oxo cubes over it

2Add the onion and fry gently until mince is browned and not lumpy

3Stir in the porridge oats and mix thoroughly

4Add the gravy and brown sauce

5Bring to the boil and simmer gently for 20 minutes

6If it starts to dry out and' catch' add some more water

7Meanwhile cook your potatoes and sweet potatoes in the same pot until soft

8Drain and then mash

9Stir in the butter and mix through until melted and then add the cream and mix well

10Tip 1/2 the mince into a casserole dish and top with half the mash

11Repeat for 2nd dish

12Cook in the oven at GM6 200c for 20 minutes

13I serve with cabbage and peas
