7oz plain flour , or wholemeal

1/4 tspn salt

3.5 fl oz warm water

2 tblspns Oil plus extra to fry

Herbs or chilli to flavour ( optional )


1Put the flour and salt in a large bowl and mix to combine

2Add herbs or chilli if using

3Gradually trickle in the water

4Bring the mix together with your hand

5Add the oil and knead into the dough

6You want a smooth soft dough

7If you have time leave dough to stand for 30 minutes

8Divide dough into 4 or 6 balls

9Roll the balls into a disc that will go in your frying pan

10Heat the pan and brush with a little oil

11Fry for 2 minutes each side , the bread should puff up a little bit and be slightly coloured

12Keep the flatbreads warm by covering in foil while you cook the others
