A Cheesy, garlicky and filling lunchtime treat
Slice your bread if needed.
Butter both sides with a generous layer of garlic butter
Grate your cheese and add a handful of cheese onto 1 slice of bread and top with ham, spread over some mustard, sprinkle more cheese on top then some spring onions, Season with S&P and place the other slice of bread on top
Heat the oil in a pan and add the buttered bread slices and toast for 2-3 mns till the bread has turned golden brown, turn over and repeat
Remove from the pan and set aside
Sprinkle some cheese in the pan and allow it to bubble and melt
Butter the toasted bread again then place on top of the cheese and and press down firmly with a spatula and let it melt together till its golden brown
Butter the top slice of bread, turn it over, sprinkle more cheese and repeat the above step for the other side
Turn bread onto its side (you can add more cheese here if you like) and grill till golden brown and crispy then repeat for the other side.
Remove from the pan, slice and serve with salad for a filling lunch.
You can use any bread for this including garlic bread slices -although I would still butter them as I find they can be dry- and any combination of cheese or ham you like
Mild American style mustard works best as it doesn't overpower the garlic
