If your new to air frying or just use it for basic cooking - for chips, nuggets etc then this recipe is for you. It's easy, speedy and best of all full of flavour. The step by step picture guide let's you follow the recipe easily and allows you to tailor it to suit your machine, whether it's a simple Air fryer or a multi cooker, like the Ninja Foodi. As with almost all of our recipes you can adapt it to suit your needs too by swapping the panko for regular or homemade breadcrumbs, or using cooked prawns instead of raw- adjusting the cooking times accordingly, If you don't like coconut then just use all breadcrumbs.

Prep:- Take the Prawns out of the fridge and defrost if frozen (run them under the cold water till completely defrosted).
Pat dry on paper towel.
With the basket inside, preheat the Airfryer or Ninja Foodi on the grill setting,or the highest air fryer temperature setting, for 10 minutes.
Add the Prawns to a small bowl. You may need to cook them in 2 batches.
1) Add the flour to a small bowl along with the S&P and mix to combine.
2) Add the egg in a separate bowl and lightly whisk with a fork.
3) Measure out the Coconut and the Panko.
4) Combine them in another bowl and give them a mix through.
Set up a coating station with the 4 bowls of ingredients plus an extra bowl/tray for the coated prawns
1) Dip the prawn into the flour so it has a light coating on all sides.
2) Dip into the egg.
3) Dip into the the panko/ coconut mixture.
4) Once Coated,carefully place into the tray.
Continue this until all are coated.
Spray the basket with a few sprays of oil and lay the coated prawns in a single layer on the bottom of the basket. (You will need to do them in 2 batches Spritz the top of the prawns with a little oil.
Close the lid and set the Air fryer to 185°C. (365°F) Set the time for about 8 minutes.The shake timer/beep will be 4 minutes
After 4 minutes, open the lid and carefully flip them over. Spritz again with oil.
Air fry for an additional 2-4 minutes. (check after 3)
Lower your temperature if the coconut is getting too brown.
Once cooked carefully remove the Prawns from the basket using a slotted spoon.
Lay the Prawns on a sheet of kitchen roll and cover with tinfoil whilst doing the 2nd batch.
To make the Dipping Sauce:-
Combine the Mayonnaise, Ketchup, Sweet Chilli Sauce and 1/2 the Chilli flakes in a bowl. Mix together, taste and adjust if needed. By adding more flakes (to make it spicy) or mayo (to make it milder) as necessary.
Serve and enjoy!
Tip:- Serve on its own as a snack or with a mixed salad, cous cous and a wedge of lemon on the side, as a main meal.
Tip:- I don't shake after the 4mins as I don't want the crumb coating to fall off the delicate prawns, so I prefer to flip them over.

King Prawns for Jumbo
Raw prawns for Cooked.
Panko for regular or fresh breadcrumbs.
Shredded coconut for Desiccated.
Spicy mayo for regular mayo or salad cream.
