Hi guys!
I, along with some others who have dropped away over the years, started FYF from my recliner in January 2014, with the aim of helping people like me to feed their families healthy homemade meals for less. I never in my wildest dreams imagined the page would grow to become a community of over half a million loyal followers. I have been and continue to be super grateful for all of your support over the last 5 years.
The time it takes to manage our amazing FYF community does come at a price though. I spend many, many hours every day posting, answering messages and seeking out new opportunities and ideas as well as creating recipes for you guys. So, I had to look for ways to try to make a living while I dedicate so much time running the page.
There have been a few complaints recently about affiliate links, so I wanted to explain why I’ve been posting them. I have started working with a company that helps me to get some sponsored posts. This means that sometimes I will post affiliate links which are paid for by companies. These help to keep me ticking over while I look after FYF. I have heard people say that the only posts they see from us on their timeline are affiliate posts. I don’t understand why that would be. But facebook does seem to be very random! We post between 10 and 15 times a day and never post more than 3 affiliate posts.
Occasionally I might receive free gifts from companies and I’ve decided that I’m going to donate these gifts to the FYF community in the form of competitions like I did last Christmas with the Nintendo Switch. That way I hope everyone gets to share some of the benefits.
I’m almost finished writing the book now and then I will get back to working hard on some new recipes for the autumn. I know I haven’t been quite as engaged on the page as usual, but I am super excited to get back to normal in the next few weeks.
Thank you all for your continued support. You guys are fab!
xx Lorna xx
I along with many others really appreciate what you do for all of us. Without your page I would never have the confidence to try new things and I just by pass the links which aren’t relevant to me.
Thank you for all you do.
I completely agree with Steph’s comment, I love your page, I love seeing the recipes, some I use, some I don’t & the same as the affiliate links, some I look at & some I don’t, some are useful & interesting, some are just fun & some I am not bothered by so just pass on by….. but anyway keep doing what you are doing, its fab 😃 x
I really enjoy following the page and the videos. To be honest I now ignore the affiliate links as there is no clue in the post as to what is being advertised. Keep up the good work . Looking forward to the book too
At the end of the day its ur page so post what u like. if ppl dont like it they can leave. i feel sad that u have had to explain urself. i love the page have got alot from it and personaly dont mind the affiliated posts
Lorna in my opinion you thoroughly deserve every penny you can make from doing this. You are also very generous with your consideration in raffling prizes – again something you shldnt feel pressured into doing. im so grateful you dont just get fed up with comments and walk away! so thanks again to all of you who help us!
This is quite normal for bloggers etc who become successful.
Enjoy your success and ignore the haters
I imagine the number of families you have helped over the years in in the tens of thousands. Remember them while you work at this page. I know I have reason to be grateful.
