Heat oven to 200c
Roll out the pastry
Spread mincemeat over the pastry
Roll it up like a Swiss roll
Cut pieces about 1-1.5” wide
Lay flat on a lined baking tray
Brush with beaten egg
Bake for 15-20 minutes until risen and golden
Meanwhile put the sugar and water in a pan and let the sugar melt completely
Remove the swirls from the oven
Sit on a rack
Brush with the sugar syrup
Cool and enjoy
