This is a very indulgent dish that can be served as a special breakfast / brunch or even a dessert. It is great for using up slightly stale bread although no one would ever know! And they will never guess how easy it is to cook either!
Cut your bread into 1 inch chunks
Add the eggs, milk, cream and vanilla to a bowl and beat together
Add the bread and set aside to soak up the liquid
Ina separate bowl add the cream cheese and icing sugar and beat together
Prepare the berries by removing any stalks and washing well
Add the strawberries to the bread and milk / egg / cream mix and stir well
Put the mix in the base of the slow cooker and flatten down
Dollop the cream cheese mix on top
Cook in the slow cooker on high for 2 hours
Serve as is or on top of breakfast waffles or with a scoop of ice cream
