Apple Roses

Ingredients

2 red eating apples

75g sugar

Block or sheet of puff pastry

1-2 tspns cinnamon

75g melted butter

1 egg beaten

A little water

Icing sugar

Directions

1Heat oven to 200c , grease a muffin tray

2Slice the apples thinly . Put on a plate , and microwave for about 30 seconds . Cover plate with cling film

3Roll out the pastry and cut into strips about 7cm wide

4Mix the sugar and cinnamon together

5Brush the strips with melted butter then sprinkle on the cinnamon sugar

6Lay the apple slices on the pastry , leaving a cm at the bottom . Fold bottom of pastry over the bottom of the apples

7Beat the egg and water together and brish the pastry . Starting at one end roll them up to form a 'rose'. Sprinkle with more cinnamon sugar and bake for 30 minutes or until pastry is golden brown .

8Dust with icing sugar and serve .

9You could use raspberry or apricot jam to brush them with if preferred
