Chocolate cake

Yummy rich chocolate cake.

  • Prep: 15 mins
  • Cook: 20 mins
  • Yields: 8 slices


225g self rasining flour

175g caster sugar (i used normal)

45g coco powder (dark is best)

1/2tsp Bicarb of soda

3 large eggs

150ml sunflower oil

150ml cream fraiche

3 tbsp golden syrup


11 pre hear oven at 160c and line and grease one 8inch deep cake tin or 2 8inch sandwich tins.

22. Mix dry ingredients together in a bowl then add wet and mix to combine.

33. Put mixture in what ever tin your using.

44. Cook a 8in deep tin for 45 mins and the sandwich tins 15/20 mins. Or u till a knife comes out clean.

55. Let cool on a rack.

I am using ganache as a filler and coating but yiu could use any frosting you want. Maybe add cherry jam and whipped cream. I have said gives 8 slices but really depends how much cake you want to eat.
