Crumble topped apple pie

Make mini pies as the photo or a large family sized pie

  • Prep: 15 mins
  • Cook: 30 mins
  • Yields: 6-8servings


1 quantity shortcrust pastry ( see jam tarts recipe )


6-8 apples peeled , cores and diced

Sugar to taste

1tspn cinnamon

A splash of water


85g Plain Flour

85g old butter

4 tblspn granulated sugar

Handful porridge oats

1 tspn cinnamon


1Put the apples into a pan

2Toss in the cinnamon and sugar

3Put on a low heat adding a little water

4Cook with a lid on for 5-10 minutes

5Remove from heat and let cool

6Roll out the pastry

7Line greased muffin tins or a pie dish

8Put in fridge to chill

9Heat oven to 190c


11Put the flour,sugar , oats and cinnamon in a bowl .

12Add in the cubes butter

13Rub with your fingertips until you get a breadcrumb like consistency


15Put the cooled apple mix into the pastry cases(s)

16Top with the crumble mix

17Cook individual pies for about 15 mins or a large pie for 25-30 minutes

18Serve with custard

Made these yesterday are delicious I used two bramley apples so ran other of filling so used mincemeat all ere brill will be making again x
