Fruity flapjacks

Add whatever dried fruits or nuts to this that you like

  • Prep: 15 mins
  • Cook: 45 mins
  • Yields: 16 squares


175g butter

175g golden syrup

175g sugar

350g oats

A couple of handfuls of dried fruit


1Heat oven to 150c

2Grease and line a 20cm square tin

3Melt the butter , sugar and syrup gently on the hob

4When you can no l feel or hear the sugar when you stir , remove from the hob.

5Stir through the oats and fruit .

6Make sure it's well mixed it will stiffen Pour into the prepared tin

7Flatten the top

8Cook for about 40-45 minutes

9Cool it in the tin for 20 minutes

10Turn out and cut into squares

You could add dessicated coconut and omit the fruit to make diggers
Add some good ne'er and no fruit for a plain flapjack

Looks nice but I’m a bit confused do you cook for 45 mins or 20 minutes?
