Mince Pies

A Christmas must have

  • Prep: 40 mins
  • Cook: 20 mins
  • Yields: 24


8oz plain flour

4 oz butter

3 oz caster sugar

2 eggs

A little milk or water


Icing sugar


1Mix the flour and sugar in a large bowl

2Add the butter and rub together until it looks like breadcrumbs

3Add the beaten egg and a little water or milk to bind the pastry together

4Wrap in cling film and chill in the fridge for at least 30 minutes

5Heat oven to 220c

6Grease your pie/muffin tins

7Roll out the pastry on a lightly floured surface

8Cut out 12 discs

9Put these in the bottom of each

10Add a spoonful of mincemeat to each

11Cut out smaller rounds or shapes and place on top of the mincemeat

12If using a full top seal the sides well

13Brush with beaten egg or water

14Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden

15Dust with icing sugar
