Penny2017-09-22T21:28:45+00:00 Total Recipe Views: 2,994 Mushy Peas By Penny Vegan, Vegetable, Vegetarian English September 22, 2017 Perfect with fish and chips , delicious with faggots Prep: 10 mins Cook: 25 mins Ingredients 225g dried marrowfat peas 2 tablespoon bicarbonate of soda Salt Sugar Mint sauce ( optional ) Directions 1Put the peas into a large bowl 2Add the bicarbonate and cover with 300ml of boiling water 3Stir to make sure the bicarbonate has dissolved. 4Let them soak overnight, or for a minimum of 12 hours. 5Drain the peas 6Put them in a large saucepan, 7cover with boiling water and bring to the boil. 8Add a tspn of sugar and a little salt 9Lower the heat and simmer for 20-30 mins or until the peas have softened and turned mushy 10Stir through a tspn or 2 of mint sauce if usingThis makes enough for about 8 , so freeze half close full screen 00:00 11 Reviews Ceri Charilaou September 28, 2017 Or make mushy pea pasties (a Maltese street food – honest!)
