 1 cup sugar
 1 large egg
 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
 1/2 cup milk
 2 cups Plain flour
 1 tspn baking powder
 1 tspn salt
 1 punnet strawberries, hulled and quartered

Preheat the oven to 180c

Grease a 9-inch baking dish

Put the butter and sugar into a large bowl and cream it together

Add the egg and almond extract and stir into the mix

Pour in the milk and stir

Then add in the flour, baking powder and salt and mix until fully combined. Pour the batter into the greased dish. Scatter the strawberries on top and gently push them down into the batter.

Bake until golden for about 35 minutes.
