Simple white loaf

Yields1 Serving
 500g strong white bread flour
 1 tblspn softened butter
 1.5 tspn caster sugar
 1.5 tspn salt
 7 g fast action yeast
 300ml hand warm water

Put the flour , salt , sugar and yeast in a bowl.

Add the butter and rub it in

Gradually add the water , stirring all the time to combine

When thoroughly mixed , put the dough ont a floured surface and knead until it becomes smooth and elastic

Put it into an oiled bowl , cover with clingfilm and let it prove until doubled in size ( this will take an hour , maybe more )

When it's doubled in size , knock the air back put of it and mould it to fit a 2lb loaf tin

Put in oiled tin and prove again until doubled in size

Heat oven to 200C

Put tin into oven and bake for 30-35 minutes until risen and nicely crusted
