French onion soup

50g butter

1TBSP oil

1kg onions halved and finely sliced

1tsp sugar

4 garlic cloves minced

2TBSP plain flour

250ml's white wine (optional)

1litre strong beef stock


1Fry onions in melted butter and oil for 10 minutes

2Add sugar, reduce heat and cook for 20 minutes til caramelised

3Add flour and stir through

4Add wine and stock and simmer for 20 minutes

5Serve with hot garlicky, cheesy bread mmmm
