Meatloaf

A filling meatloaf where if you have any leftovers is just as good second time around

 700g minced beef ( lean is best )
 175g sausage meat ( you can skin some sausages )
 1 beaten egg
 1 finely chopped onion
 1 garlic clove (crushed)
 1 tbspn fresh sage ( chopped)
 1 tbspn English mustard
 1.5 tbspns tomato puree
 110g fresh breadcrumbs
 1/2-1 tspn paprika
 Salt and pepper

Heat oven to 180C

Put all the ingredients into a large bowl

Now get your hands in and mix really well

Put into a 2lb loaf tin and pat the top down flat

Put a piece of oiled grease proof paper over the top of the mix

Put the loaf in a large baking tin

Fill it with boiled water to come half way up the sides of the loaf tin ( you are making a Bain Marie )

Put in the oven and cook for about 1.5 hours. Remove the grease proof for last 15 mins of cooking

I serve in slices with mashed potatoes, peas and thick gravy

Any leftovers can be sliced and fried the following day to warm through and served in a roll
