A filling meatloaf where if you have any leftovers is just as good second time around

700g minced beef ( lean is best )

175g sausage meat ( you can skin some sausages )

1 beaten egg

1 finely chopped onion

1 garlic clove (crushed)

1 tbspn fresh sage ( chopped)

1 tbspn English mustard

1.5 tbspns tomato puree

110g fresh breadcrumbs

1/2-1 tspn paprika

Salt and pepper

1Heat oven to 180C

2Put all the ingredients into a large bowl

3Now get your hands in and mix really well

4Put into a 2lb loaf tin and pat the top down flat

5Put a piece of oiled grease proof paper over the top of the mix

6Put the loaf in a large baking tin

7Fill it with boiled water to come half way up the sides of the loaf tin ( you are making a Bain Marie )

8Put in the oven and cook for about 1.5 hours. Remove the grease proof for last 15 mins of cooking

9I serve in slices with mashed potatoes, peas and thick gravy

10Any leftovers can be sliced and fried the following day to warm through and served in a roll
