Pizza Sauce

1 tin of tomatoes

2 thinly sliced garlic cloves

A good glug of olive oil

Handful of torn basil leaves

Salt and black pepper


1Heat the oil in a large saucepan and add the garlic slices

2When the garlic starts to colour add the other ingredients

3Mash down the tomatoes with the back of a wooden spoon

4Bring to the boil

5Let it simmer for a couple of minutes

6Push the sauce through a dive to remove the garlic , basil leaves and pips

7Scrape the bottom of the sieve into sieved sauce

8Discard the contents of the sieve

9Put the sauce back on the hob and simmer for at least 5 minutes

10Let it cool

11Put it on top of your pizza base and then add toppings
